“Model Is Just a Title.” Jayden on Massage, Money, and Why He Refuses to Be Ashamed of Honest Work

NOCTI Professional Interview • Los Angeles Jayden is a model. He also works in massage. And if you think the first title automatically means money, glamour and some kind of special life, he has a very simple answer: “Model is just a title.” Then he laughs. “It doesn’t mean you’re making enough money. It definitely doesn’t make you special.” That sentence says a lot about Jayden. Because in Los Angeles, titles can become a whole identity. Model. Actor. Trainer. Influencer. Entrepreneur. But rent still exists. Bills still exist. And sometimes the job that looks impressive on Instagram isn’t the job actually paying your life. For Jayden, massage isn’t something he does because he failed at modeling. It’s another form of honest work. And he sees absolutely nothing embarrassing about that. ⸻ NOCTI: Do people assume modeling means you’re doing really well financially? Jayden: “All the time.” “People hear ‘model’ and think you’re living some luxury life.” He laughs. “That’s not how it works for most people.” Some months are better. Some are slow. Some jobs look impressive but don’t pay nearly what people imagine. “Modeling is a title. It doesn’t mean you’re rich.” That’s one reason Jayden has no interest in pretending his life is something it isn’t. “I’d rather work.”

“Why Would I Be Embarrassed to Say I Do Massage?”

This is where the conversation shifts. Because while modeling is a job people are proud to announce, massage is still something some male providers hesitate to tell others about. Jayden doesn’t understand that. NOCTI: Have you ever felt like you should hide that you do massage? Jayden: “No.” “Why?” “I’m working. I’m helping people. I’m making money honestly.” Then he adds: “There’s nothing wrong with massage. There’s nothing wrong with any honest job.” For him, the problem isn’t the profession. It’s how people behave inside the profession. “You can have a fancy title and still be a bad person.” “And you can do massage and be professional, respectful and serious about your work.” His philosophy is simple: There is no shameful profession. There are only people who choose to do their work badly. ⸻ Los Angeles Loves Titles. Jayden Doesn’t. Jayden knows how image-driven LA can be. People introduce themselves by what they do. Actor. Model. Creator. Trainer. Founder. But he doesn’t believe any of those words automatically make somebody more important. NOCTI: So being a model doesn’t make you feel above massage work? He almost laughs at the question. “No. Not at all.” “Why would it?” “A title doesn’t make me better than the person next to me.” And that might be the most interesting thing about him. He doesn’t romanticize modeling. He doesn’t apologize for massage. Both are work. Both require effort. Both can be inconsistent. Both can teach you something. “I’m not too good for honest work.”

Massage Near Me Is Usually About More Than Distance

Search “massage near me” in Los Angeles and the results are endless. But when men search for massage, they’re often looking for more than proximity. They may search: men’s massage Los Angeles male massage provider near me gay-friendly massage LA men for men massage M4M massage massage for men Those searches often reflect one basic question: “Will I feel comfortable here?” Jayden understands that especially well. NOCTI: What do you think people really mean when they search “gay massage” or “men for men massage”? Jayden: “Sometimes they just want to know they won’t be judged.” “That’s it.” A gay client may want a male provider. Another client may simply want an LGBTQ+ friendly environment. Someone else may just prefer someone experienced with male clients. “You can’t assume everybody wants the same thing.” What matters, he says, is clear communication. What service is being offered? What does the provider specialize in? Are boundaries clear? Can the client ask questions? “That matters more than the label.” ⸻ NOCTI: Do male massage providers get judged differently? Jayden: “Yes.” “If a woman tells people she works at a spa, nobody makes it weird.” “But a guy says he massages men and suddenly everybody has an opinion.” He laughs. “People make things complicated.” For Jayden, professionalism should be judged by the actual behavior of the provider. Was the client treated with respect? Was communication clear? Were boundaries respected? Did the provider take the work seriously? “That’s what should matter.” ⸻ The Funny Part? Men Are Usually More Nervous Than They Admit Jayden sees it all the time. A first-time client arrives and tries to act completely relaxed. Then come the questions. How much pressure? Do I talk? Do I stay quiet? What kind of massage should I choose? What do I wear? NOCTI: What’s your advice to someone booking massage for the first time? Jayden: “Ask questions.” “You don’t need to pretend you already know.” That’s especially true for men. “There’s no prize for acting tough.” He jokes that some guys request the deepest pressure possible before they even know whether they’ll enjoy it. “Massage is not a competition.” No medal. No trophy. No leaderboard. The right massage is the one that makes sense for the person on the table.

Being a Model Doesn’t Mean Life Is Easy

This is where Jayden’s story becomes more relatable than glamorous. Because behind a polished photo, there is still normal life. Bills. Slow work periods. Uncertainty. Trying to build something stable. NOCTI: Does massage give you something modeling doesn’t? Jayden: “Consistency.” “Modeling depends on bookings. You don’t control everything.” Massage is different. “You build relationships with clients. You work. You improve. People come back because they like your work.” There’s something more direct about it. “You know what you did that day.” And that matters to him. ⸻ “I’m Not Hiding Either One.” Jayden isn’t ashamed of modeling. He isn’t ashamed of massage. And he doesn’t think either one should define his value as a person. NOCTI: If someone judged you because you do massage, would it bother you? He pauses. “Not really.” “If I know I’m doing honest work, why should I be embarrassed?” Then he smiles. “I model. I do massage. I’m not hiding either one.” That sentence may be the best summary of the entire conversation. Because Jayden’s story isn’t really about massage. It’s about ego. It’s about work. It’s about the pressure to look successful in a city obsessed with appearances. And it’s about refusing to pretend that a glamorous title is more valuable than honest work. ⸻ Maybe “Model” Was Never the Interesting Part Jayden could easily lead with modeling. It photographs well. It sounds exciting. People understand it immediately. But the more interesting part of his story may be that he doesn’t use it to place himself above anyone else. Model is a title. Massage provider is a title. Neither automatically tells you whether somebody is kind, professional, hardworking or good at what they do. Those things have to be earned. And that’s exactly how Jayden wants people to judge him. Not by the title. By the work.
