Men’s Health · Las Vegas · Checked November 2, 2026

Free HIV & STI testing + PrEP in Las Vegas. No insurance, no judgment.

Short answer: yes, you can get tested for free in Las Vegas. Southern Nevada Health District’s Express Testing offers no-cost walk-in screening for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea and hepatitis if you don’t have symptoms. No insurance for PrEP? SNHD’s Sexual Health Clinic uses a sliding scale and says it won’t turn you away on the day of your visit because you can’t pay.

Getting tested is not a confession. It’s maintenance—like an oil change, but for the most important vehicle you own. Here’s where to go, what it costs and what to ask, so you can stop doom-scrolling at 2 AM and just handle it.

Possible exposure? Ask for PEP. Today, not tomorrow.

PEP is a 28-day course of HIV medicine that must be started within 72 hours of a possible exposure, according to NIH and CDC. Sooner is better. Go to an emergency room or urgent care, or call SNHD’s Sexual Health Clinic. PEP is for emergencies; if you’d need it more than once, ask about PrEP.

Free HIV self-tests by mail

Together TakeMeHome mails free HIV self-tests anywhere in the U.S.—up to two every 90 days, either an oral swab or a drop of blood. Results take minutes and only you see them. Check eligibility on its site. A self-test checks HIV only, and a positive result needs a follow-up test at a clinic.

PrEP without insurance: what still works

  • Clinics aboveSNHD (sliding scale), The Center, Huntridge and AHF all list PrEP for people without insurance.

Worried about papers or ID?

What we can—and can’t—tell you

We won’t promise anything an official source doesn’t. Federal law has long kept public-health programs for immunizations and for treating communicable-disease symptoms open regardless of immigration status (National Immigration Law Center). Federal rules shifted in 2025–2026, and a federal judge blocked one HHS directive on immigrant access in September 2026. SNHD’s clinic page asks for a photo ID and proof of income for its sliding scale and says nothing about immigration status.

Practical move: call first and ask what you’ll need before you give your name. Home self-tests arrive by mail.

Questions men actually ask

FAQ

Where can I get a free HIV test in Las Vegas?

Southern Nevada Health District’s Express Testing offers no-cost walk-in HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea and hepatitis screening for people without symptoms. The Center and Huntridge Family Clinic also list free HIV tests. Hours change, so check the official page or call before you go.

Can I get PrEP in Las Vegas without insurance?

Yes, there are options. SNHD’s Sexual Health Clinic offers PrEP on a sliding scale and says it will not turn people away on the day of the visit for inability to pay. The Center, Huntridge Family Clinic and AHF list PrEP for people without insurance. The federal Ready, Set, PrEP program stopped taking new enrollees on July 30, 2024, so ask the clinic about current assistance programs.

What if I think I was exposed to HIV in the last 72 hours?

Ask for PEP right away. NIH and CDC say PEP must be started within 72 hours of a possible exposure and is taken daily for 28 days. Go to an emergency room or urgent care, or call SNHD’s Sexual Health Clinic at (702) 759-1700 to schedule. Sooner is better.

Can I test for HIV at home for free?

Together TakeMeHome mails free HIV self-tests in the U.S.—up to two every 90 days, oral swab or finger-stick—and results are private. Check eligibility on its site. A positive self-test needs a follow-up test at a clinic.

Do I need papers or ID to get tested?

NOCTI cannot promise how any clinic handles ID or immigration questions, and federal rules have been changing. SNHD’s clinic page asks for a photo ID and proof of income for its sliding scale and does not mention immigration status. You can call first and ask what you’ll need before giving your name.
